2022/2023 Coach Travel Grant Application

The Jonny Kellock Foundation was formed as a legacy entity of our friend and teammate who tragically lost a hard-fought battle with brain cancer in January 2021. To honour Jonny’s lifelong commitment to the sport of ski racing, and passion for coaching, the foundation seeks to support the personal and professional development of Canada’s alpine coaches (and their athletes) by enabling them to join Alpine Canada’s high-performance teams on the road. In doing so, coaches will be gaining valuable experience and exposure, accelerating the transfer of knowledge to Canada’s provincial and club programs.

For the second year of this initiative, the Jonny Kellock Foundation will be funding select individuals to join Alpine Canada for two of the following three interface opportunities (one interface per individual):

  1. Saas Fee / Schalstal / Soelden – Join the Men’s World Cup Tech team for the final prep phase ahead of the season opener in Soelden, AUT. This trip will include timed training on the Soelden race hill!

    *Dates: September 18th to October 9th, 2022

  2. Schnalsdahl / Cervinia – Join the Women’s World Cup team for three weeks of speed training alongside the various other World Cup teams.

    *Dates: October 10th to 31st, 2022

  3. Copper Mountain – Join the Women’s World Cup speed and combined teams for 11 days of world class training in Copper Mountain, CO.

    *Dates: November 10th to 21st, 2022

*Exact dates may vary slightly

These engagements have been specifically selected to ensure attendees gain the most relevant experience possible in terms of technical focus, while offering comprehensive exposure to both training and race environments. Applicants can expect to sit in on video sessions, on-snow technical feedback, observe the best practices of our nation’s greatest athletes, and experience the intensity and focus necessary to succeed at the highest level – all while joining Alpine Canada as a crucial day-to-day staff member. Applicants will be selected based on their commitment to their coaching career, quality of character, and their ability to contribute as an active member of the Alpine Canada staff.
